CNN —Capping off a weekend of photo finishes, Kyle Larson won NASCAR’s AdventHealth 400 by a staggering 0.001 seconds in Kansas on Sunday. The RFK team could be seen on the broadcast jubilantly celebrating before the official result was finalized. Eventually, Hendrick Motorsports’ Larson was declared winner in the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history, per NASCAR. “I didn’t know if I won or not, I was pumped for the finish,” Larson added as he explained his spotter said it was a second-place finish before celebrating wildly down the radio when he found out Larson had won. New York CNN —On St. Patrick’s Day, throwing back an Irish whiskey might taste different than it used to. Flavored whiskey is a $1.5 billion category and accounts for 20% of all US whiskey sales. In the past few years, flavored whiskey sales have outpaced unflavored whiskey, according to Southern Glazer’s distributors. But with younger drinkers gravitating toward punchier flavors, Irish brands “have to be much more flexible than their historical beliefs have been,” he told CNN. Flavors are “a good way to get them into the brand and into the whiskey category, and certainly into Irish whiskey,” Basford said.

The U.S. Department of Justice has subpoenaed Globe Life Inc. and its subsidiary American Income Life seeking documents related to one of its top life insurance agencies — the Pittsburgh-based Arias Organization. Globe Life executives made no mention of the DOJ probe during a quarterly earnings call on February 8. In October, insurance regulators in Pennsylvania fined American Income Life $130,000 for engaging in deceptive consumer practices. "We do not believe the litigation will be material to Globe Life's overall results or American Income Life's agency operations," he said. Darden told the analysts that "as soon as American Income became aware of" the allegations, AIL hired an outside investigator to look into the matter.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Don’t expect Denny Hamlin to stay in line during the closing laps of the Daytona 500. “In the end, you have to be selfish to win these races and certainly we realize that through results more than anything else,” Hamlin said. He’s repeatedly made it clear he wouldn’t trade any of his Daytona 500 victories for series championships. “I think Denny is really good at, like, being dramatic and building our sport up well, bringing some drama to it. I think that’s good.”The ultimate drama might be seeing Hamlin jockeying teammates and his own drivers over the final laps.

Larson nearly lost control of his Arrow McLaren Chevrolet during a four-plus-hour test at Phoenix Raceway on Monday, but the NASCAR star and 2021 Cup Series champion managed to save his Indianapolis 500 ride from hitting the wall at 180 mph. “I went into Indy car turmoil, got a little bit loose into the corner, got to the apex. AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Ryan Blaney was fastest of NASCAR's championship contenders Friday in the only practice session ahead of the title-deciding season finale Sunday at Phoenix Raceway. “Ryan Blaney gets around Phoenix really, really well,” said Blaney crew chief Jonathan Hassler. Blaney was third and followed by Christopher Bell, who is one of the final four drivers racing for the title. William Byron, winner at Phoenix in the spring, was seventh fastest and Kyle Larson was the slowest driver of the title contenders in 11th. Bell is the lone Toyota representative and driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, which last won a title with Kyle Busch in 2019.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Rick Hendrick first met William Byron as a local Charlotte teenager, fan of Hendrick Motorsports and budding NASCAR driver. It's paid off as Byron heads to Phoenix Raceway this week with a shot at winning his first Cup title. William has always been pretty calculating, and he doesn’t drive over his head and he’s won races this year by making some aggressive moves. Should Byron win the title on Sunday, he'd be the first North Carolina-born and raised Cup champion since Dale Jarrett in 1999. 24 Chevrolet since Jeff Gordon's fourth title in 2001.

There was Chase Elliott, one of his best friends, who won the 2020 Cup title and is NASCAR’s five-time reigning most popular driver. And what of William Byron, who only needed half the time to pass Blaney in career wins? Then he scored his second win of the season in the round of 12 of the playoffs at Talladega Superspeedway to earn an automatic berth into the round of eight. I think that’s the biggest thing that’s helped me out this year,” Blaney said. Rushbrook loves Blaney's chances come Sunday to give Ford a second consecutive Cup title.

Their record fourth World Cup victory from the eight tournaments they have played was won the hard way, and with no shortage of good fortune. "I think in the last World Cup (in 2019) we were quite ignorant about the game but this time we are all united. I think South Africa obviously had the power over New Zealand in the game." INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kyle Larson looked like a natural turning his first laps in an IndyCar. “Like I said in (a Cup car) you'd be really tight in (turn) one, like you're off the gas. You'd be tight in (turn) two and then you would have better balance in (turns) three and four,” Larson said. “ This has way more downforce and speed than a Cup car, but the balance of all four corners felt way more similar than a stock car. At one point, Larson accidentally hit a button on the steering wheel that he said prevented the car from moving.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Ross Chastain, the runner-up in NASCAR's championship last season, crashed out of Sunday's playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway in a collision with fellow title contenders Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell. Chastain was in a pack of cars racing to the flag that marked the end of the first stage. Busch hit the wall trying to avoid running into the back of Stenhouse, just as Chastain tried to slide through the middle to advance his position. That caused the Chevrolet from Trackhouse Racing to hit the wall and take a second hit from Bell. Chastain, who won at Talladega last year, has struggled in his four previous starts on Charlotte's hybrid road course/oval track.

Wallace moved up three spots to ninth in the standings, still one below the cutoff line when this round is done. Byron finished 1.863 seconds ahead of Chastain for his sixth win of the season, the most in the Cup series. For the first time since Texas opened in 1997, the race wasn't scheduled for 501 miles, and was 100 miles shorter. He finished only 73 laps and was 34th in the 36-car field, dropping from sixth to 12th in the playoff standings. Blaney and Buescher finished second and third in that race that had 57 lead changes among 21 drivers.

Denny Hamlin didn't chill Sunday with his bravado that this is indeed the year he will finally win a NASCAR championship. The day after his win at Bristol Motor Speedway hurdled Hamlin and his No. 11 team into the second round of NASCAR's playoffs, Hamlin was still pumping his chest. Hamlin shared a back-and-forth with the crowd, and that's when he first declared that this is, finally, his year. When the possibility of a NASCAR Cup Series car competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race was first discussed two years ago, there was some surprise. “I talked to a few people, traditional sports-car folks and traditional racing folks, and when I told them about the project, they were scratching their head like, ‘You’re going to do what?’” John Doonan, president of the International Motor Sports Association, said in an interview. Doonan is also the project leader of NASCAR’s return to Le Mans 47 years after the series was last involved, when a Dodge Charger and a Ford Torino failed to finish the raceChevrolet, a two-time winner in the GTE Pro class, is supplying the car, a Camaro ZL1 run by Hendrick Motorsports of North Carolina that is the Garage 56 entry for Le Mans, which celebrates its centenary this year.

LONDON, May 4 (Reuters) - Former Formula One champion Jenson Button wants to drive a Hypercar at Le Mans next year and says he would be up for a full season of the world endurance championship if the right opportunity comes along. The Briton will be taking part in the 24 Hours race at the Sarthe circuit on June 10-11 this year as part of a special NASCAR entry with seven times NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and former Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller. Johnson, 47, has never been to Le Mans while Button, 43, endured a short-lived debut in 2018 with the Russian-backed SMP team. The World Endurance Championship (WEC) has seven rounds, including Le Mans, while the North American IMSA series has 11 but is nearer to home. "I’m running out of items, especially in a major professional setting," said the Californian, who was never able to race Le Mans previously due to calendar clashes with NASCAR and IndyCars.
Breast cancer screenings reduce deaths from breast cancer and have considerably lower radiation levels than nuclear or atomic bombs, contrary to claims circulating in a video on social media. Dr Veronique Desaulniers, a bio-energetic chiropractor according to her LinkedIn profile, warns about the purported dangers of breast cancer screening in the clip posted on Instagram (here). “A decade of annual mammography would yield a total radiation dose 10 times that: 3.6 mSv,” he adds. A reduction in breast cancer deaths has been primarily attributed to mammography screening and early breast cancer detection (here). There is a radiation risk to the breasts of teenagers and women in their early 20s due to development, however, the risk drops rapidly as women age, according to Kopans.

Feb 14 (Reuters) - The value of bets placed in Nevada sportsbooks on this year's Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles was 14.8% below the record set last year, according to unaudited figures provided by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Nevada sportsbooks kept a combined $11.3 million from Super Bowl bets for a hold percentage of 7.4% compared with last year when they kept $15.4 million for a hold percentage of 8.6%. The twice Super Bowl winner also ran for 44 yards, including a 26-yard scramble that helped set up the game-winning field goal. Next year's Super Bowl will be held at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders and many experts are expecting betting around that game to reach new heights. "The Nevada Gaming Control Board looks forward to Allegiant Stadium hosting Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next year," Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Kirk Hendrick said in a news release.

Wolfgang told her that he only produced pictures he considered beautiful, and he believed the owners enjoyed them as much as the art market profited from them.
